This thread is in response to izanaki's question regarding lenses for a 5D & 1DIII. There were a lot of useful responses there, but I like data from polls, plus more people typically respond. I tweaked the polled information to suit my needs and budget. Thanks for your responses.

David

EDIT: that's the 85L II

What other lenses do you own?

Fair enough,

I own the 24-70 2.8 which I just can't seem to part with. It's the lens that's the least cool to me, but it's very sharp and generally produces great, consistent results. I can't see myself letting it go.

I own the 70-200 2.8 IS which is a stunning lens, but I don't often use it. As a matter of fact, I didn't even pull it out of the bag at my last wedding.

I also own the Sigma 50 1.4 which produces amazing images.

Another favorite is the 85 1.8. I really love this little lens.

Basically, I love primes, but I'm afraid to sacrifice too much at the long end. I prefer to shoot from a bit of a distance.

I suspect you're thinking of the duplicate post on the canon gear forum.

For my last wedding, I shot the entire ceremony with sigma 50 on my 5D and the 85/1.8 on my 30D. The chapel was a bit smaller than some of the churches I've shot in. One of the options I'm considering that wasn't in the poll is the 35L and the 100/2. This isn't an option I've considered before, but I know it's a really nice lens. I'm a little nervous about not being able to reach past 100mm.

Maybe it's time to run ImageReporter again.

It looks like I made a jump. I'll be selling my 70-200 2.8L IS. Paul at LensProToGO announced his regular sale, and I picked up a 135L and 35L. I think it will be a good trade.

Thanks to everyone for contributing.
