I`ve put a 100% crop up to show the difference between the Voigt 40 Ultron and the Contax 35 2.8. Just J peg straight out of the camera no processing.

Also, a mod I made to the aperture ring on the Voigt, looks heath robinson but it works. The serrated side of the cable tie falls against the serrated part of the ring so doesn`t move once tightened (maybe I should have reversed the tie so that the slopping part of the lock was the other way around) we shall see but it works an absolute treat and makes changing f stops a breeze with no damage to the lens and because the supplied lens hood(which is designed to take the close up lens) is very shallow I fitted a Nikon HR-2 rubber hood because it takes a Nikon lens cap and is the 52mm thread size.

Dave, thanks for the comparison shots. Did you focus with LiveView?

I just decided to sell off a ton of gear, including a Distagon 35/2.8 (which is the best of the four 35's I'm flogging). I'm keeping my Ultron as a step between the Distagon 28/2.8 and my 50mm's. I'm also keeping my Mamiya C 35/3.5N with T-S adapter, but it's more of a specialized lens, and it's not nearly so portable. Jim.

Did some more tests with live view and this time with the Hoodman just in case my eyes were deceiving me. Stuck some comparison sets up on my Dell 27" calibrated monitor and asked my wife to choose between the sets ( she has no clue on file numbers but has got one of the sharpest pair of eagle eyes around(which makes it hard to sneek anything in from the car:-) she can tell the sex of a fly at 10ft:-) I did some sets with the 35mm images upsized and some with the 40mm images downsized
Anyway, she chose exclusively the Ultron images. That`ll do for me.
