I just got a laptop with windows 7 ultimate x64 installed and i downloaded the trial of Photoshop of cs4 to test on this machine. Im getting 2 errors when i try to install it. Adobe's support is a joke so im wondering if anybody here has had any luck getting this to install properly. It gets maybe 10% of the way through the install and the it errors and says Photoshop cs4 was not able to be installed. Gives me an error 1610 and 1612. |

I have it installed on my desktop running Windows 7 Home Premium. No problems with the installation, but I installed from disc, not from download. |

Well i have tried it with the anti-virus/firewall disabled. It seems to more of a problem with the installer than the other things running. Not sure. Ive been searching the interwebz all day trying to get this to work. |

Many people have been using CS4 on the various pre-release versions of Win 7 that have been out for many months. I haven't heard of any problems. Don't forget that Win 7 is based on Vista and that hasn't been problematic for CS4 either. I've been using it since CS4 was first released about a year ago; no issues. |

Download the installer from Adobe again, thats the problem. Its happened to others before. Win 7 is not the problem. |

When you download the installer, are you saving it to your laptop? (if so, where?) I always suggest "Save" instead of "Run" when downloading installers. The error codes you are getting are MSI installer codes indicating that there is something hosed with the files. |

yup im saving to my desktop. I have both of the files as well. I extract the files to C:/adobe so they are in the root directory. |

I haven't actually went through the install process but do you need to extract? I'm not sure if that is just part of the process when you double click on the .exe on your desktop or not. |

Yeha i turned UAC right one i got into windows. I hated it in vista and didnt want to have it here, so that isnt the issue either. |

OK so this is going to sound dumb but its installed and working. When it would error and tell me that things weren't being installed i missed the button to continue...well i hit that a few times and it went through the install and worked. So i have Photoshop cs4 running on my Windows 7 ultimate x64 machine and it is lightning fast. |
