fyi, the avedon exhibition is in detroit at the institute of arts until early january. i've been twice and i'm still speechless. the mid-90s color work (many of the above images) is represented, but most of the more than 100 prints are the late 40s through 70s product. dovina (think elephants), suzy parker, the parisian sets, it's all there. my gawd, the print skill, i mean blacks like i've never seen before ...
