Found quite a few bluebottle flies in a citrus tree in the holistic gardens here on campus.

All captured with my trusty D300 (F11, 1/250, ISO160), Nikkor 105mm w/52.5mm tube, Gary Fong Puffer-diffused R1C1 twin flash, handheld.

#2 is particularly striking to me.
How are those Puffer-ed SB-R200s working for you, Kenny? As compared with your previous solutions.
Got a couple of third party Puffer knock-offs but can't quite figure out how to attach them (won't quite fit in the bag if I make em permanent together).

Thanks fellas. Appreciate the kind words.

@Zichar--as with most things, it's a tradeoff vis-a-vis my single, offcamera light. 1) I can't do balanced fill, 2) I haven't figured a practical way to get a diopter on the front of the lens and 3) the SB-R200 lamps use an oddball, expensive battery instead of AA's. Hate that. OTOH, I can get into places I can't with the SB-800 and that great big Lumiquest softbox isn't sticking in the critter's faces. It's nice to have two very workable solutions, I guess, all considered.

Thanks. I thought they looked a little odd myself, a little different from the usual ones I see this time of year.
