Anyone getting this one at $4800? It seems like a good deal.
Would like to hear some feedbacks on this lens. TIA.

Not too bad for price. I remember when everyone wanted the 200 to cost the same as the 300...well the USA version of the 300 is now $4700 which is pretty close to the 4800 that the 200 commands. I guess everyone got their wish

Hmmm...I guess it's true what they say, "Be careful what you wish for!"

I paid about that price for a used one, albeit a mint one, just a few months ago....

With bing.com you can get another 2% off B&H.
The final cost is $4704 shipped. Really tempting me...

Man! that's an very expensive $4,800 duck...got to be the hyper-inflation that Greenspan keep threaten us!
Truly, that's an impressive lens (and capture) and you're lucky dude.
Thanks for sharing, and I will have to wait for the 4th gov. stimulation or another reabate, whichever come first

I was at the B&H the other day, and the sales person there told me about it...
I really wished at the moment that I could use my credit card as I FREELY wish...

Glad you like it, Sam.
A few other lenses give me similar ducking results.....just that, although often it is too short so one has to crop a lot, the 200 f/2 IS is faster and better handling than any and all of them.

All the ducks aside, and I assure you, it can shoot more than just ducks, I got mine last year at $4900 just before they raised the price.

Yes, it's a very pricey lens, but a very versatile one as well. If you have the 1.4x and 2x TC's, you will also have a very nice 280mm f2.8 and 400mm f4 prime with 4 stops of IS.

The lens is practically devoid of CA, has super fast AF, very nice bokeh, and the 4 stop IS is outstanding. Great build, and it is definitely hand holdable.

I use it for everything including indoor events/performances, outdoor sports, wildlife, weddings, even as a walkaround lens.

It is by far the best lens I have ever owned...

I cannot believe the price difference between the 2.8 and this version. Yikes.

The lens is significantly easier to use than the 200 f/1.8. The IS and lower weight being the key factors there. In fact, it is so easy to use that even I can get some half-decent shots.... granted, of very simple targets.

Shoot! I hate myself for coming back and double sorry to take a peek at
Petkal & Nick Nishizaka's new pictures. You two are truly sinners, just bring temptation to poor soul FMer like me !
The pictures are just gorgeous, and I like the bokeh & color of Nick's picture of a man in the park. It's sure like a painting...
Thanks dudes, now I have to think about what to say to my "boss" about why credit card max out! darn it....

I paid $4800 last spring for mine with the then-current $500 rebate. Best people lens I own by a long shot, and that includes 135/2L, 85/L, 200/2.8L, 70-200/2.8L-IS, etc. Some portraits done this summer with it can be seen here and here.
