Thoughts on picture descriptions/naming

Another thing I have been wondering about for web sites is naming locations, animals, things for each picture. I guess it's a nice touch, but could be a lot of work to nail the information down for some things. In some cases, it just may not be possible, so then you end up with a mix of named (or described) and unnamed pictures.

Does it make a difference to you when you look at a picture? What if you were thinking of buying it - would knowing the name of the animal (I mean 'marmot', not 'George'!) influence your decision?
