So there I was, gazing in Giza at the 3,500 (or so) year-old pyramids- the sole remnants of the original "Seven Wonders of the Ancient World," and I hear the quiet morning Sahara Desert air being chopped to pieces. Sigh.
Scanned from a slide.

Charlie, great image. Nothing else to say ... just a great image.

Peace,

Todd

Modern day juxtaposed with the ancient. I really dig the 'layers' that you have in this image, and the strong diagonal lines here Charlester.

One of your finest Egypt images.

That is what I call being in the right place in the right time.
Memorable shot Charlie

Thanks Todd, Eric and Lazlo.
Although I despise the noise they make, helicopters are good for rescue work, medical transfers, and keeping the U.S. president from having to fight Washington D.C. traffic during the rush hour. So, I was cursing these Egyptian military choppers- but I was smart enough to take a few pictures because of the irony of them flying past the pyramids. As Lazlo mentions- the right place at the right time.

It still takes a great eye to see a gift moment like this, and to compose it properly. Stellar, Charlie...stellar!
This is the first time I've noticed writing on the stones in these shots. I fear graffiti. Is that it?

Tim,
Not speaking for Charlie, but yeah, it's graffiti. It's a worldwide plague spread by Hollywood movies and TV. I've seen it everywhere I've been which is a fair stretch of the globe

Thanks Tim,
Rez is right. It's graffiti- which I'm spelling the same as both of you because I never can remember how to spell the damn word (double F, double T, or single T and F, or one T and 2 Fs, or....?
Aside from the disgusting nature of graffiti on the pyramids in general, much of it looks like it was done by foreign visitors (the use of the Latin alphabet). THAT really scalds my butt!

Black helicopters...pyramids...looking for secret messages.

Great shot, Charlie!

Charlie

I had to do a Google spell-check on graffiti before I commented!

I guess you could make all sorts of commentary on this one, old and new, political statements, etc
Good timing on this capture, Charlie.
