I've been meaning to post a follow up to some comments I made here earlier about the Tamron 60mm Macro. But before I do I'd like to get a few things straight so I don't seem like an ignorant jackass -- so please don't tell anyone I asked about this ...

When shooting at macro range in almost all test with the lens I got images that showed.... (to not bias anyone) "Weird Highlight Colors" in the specular reflections of shiny objects with the lens wide open (f4) to maybe f7.1 or so when they pretty much disappeared. My old Canon 60mm EFS seems to be free of this effect even when wide open (although the lens is at least 1 stop darker at 1:1).

Question is... is this defect CA, sensor blooming, or some other defect that is unknown to me? Below is a 100% resolution image where you can see the effect in the highlight in coin's text.

Cheers

Nikon D90, f4, -0.7, 200 ISO

I resized the image for the forum so it's pretty hard to see the issue at this resolution, but you can see the full size image here:

Sorry about the monstrous size that I originally posted the image in -- can't imagine how many person minutes I wasted with that. I've resized the image for the forum and provided a link to the full res image for those interested.

I'm certainly no expert on this but does look like CA to me on the highlights.
