From last weekend. As always, C&C are most welcome.

I really like number 1 and 2. three looks a little out of focus to me.

It could be my monitor, but all of them look way over-saturated. The compositions are great, though.

I take that back, by looking at the title of the post, I believe this is the look that the OP was going for. Nice job

You got it right. The scene was colorful in fall. Thanks to digital process, right away I saw the painting.

Beautiful captures here the elegant Fall colors and beautiful reflections really make this a series that is very pleasing to stare at for a long while, nice work

Hey Bob,

Looks like a beautiful weekend! Thanks for letting me know what I missed as I was spending lonely time away in the middle of Nevada!

#1 is nice, I love the clouds. It seems a bit over sharpened, and I would crop off the dead grass at the bottom. Although that would help in a way to seperate it from #3, I think the grass at the bottom just contradicts the brightness and life in the rest of the scene.

#2 is really cool. But use the warp tool, and pull the upper left hand corner up and get rid of that tiny bit of tree trunks showing. It's my favorite shot here, it's really beautiful with that foreground, so fix it up nice for me would you?

#3 Is pretty nice looking, but 2 things I would do, crop a bit off the left side. That dark half round shadow that's right on the edge on the left is distracting with being on the edge like that. Also, it has a bit of a feel of using an ND grad on this, with the way the sky darkens, and even the darkening seen on El Cap. I would maybe do a reverse digital ND grad and brighten up just a bit that upper portion of this shot. If you did it digitally, then go back and undo it...

You got some great shots here. At least for me, just a bit more work and these can be sitting in a gallery somewhere!

Nice. I don't know how I feel about the second one, maybe if the top was cropped below the far bank.

Ray, I have been here many falls, but the clouds never cooperated until this time when I didn't expect nor hope. I just sit there to enjoy the scenery, watching other tourists clicking their P&S then go on their way. With the camera in the car when suddenly I saw the white stuff gliding in. I ran and graped the camera....

Great scenes - how come everyone else gets the great clouds at that iconic Valley view and I don't?

I'll cast my vote with some of those who mentioned that the saturation and processing seem a bit strong - though that is certainly a matter of taste.

Take care,

Dan

Thanks Jim for the fine analysis. Here I try to "correct" the dark shadow on the left corner keeping uncropped the rocks I really like. I think it add to the composition.
About the grass, I am trying to save it thinking it adds to the depth (3D) of the image but I also lightened it a bit. Let me know how you like th new version.

Dan as I said:"Ray, I have been here many falls, but the clouds never cooperated until this time when I didn't expect nor hope."
I don't know where you live, but my home is about 90 min from Yosemite valley.
California is famous for clear blue sky, no clouds! no joke!

My drive is about 3.5 hours I'm afraid...

... but I can shoot redwoods and seascapes and be home for lunch. :-)

Jim,
It was sunny and pure blue sky. I spend most of the time shooting leaves, that were already damaged by the rain/storm. The clouds were unexpected bonuses just before I headed for home.
