Just purchased my first zoom lens for my 40D. Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM. Can't wait to shoot with it. Other than a filter which is a must. Should I purchase a Tripod Mount Ring and or a lens skin? Will there be any other products out there to protect my lens? Knowing me I will probably want to sell this lens later on to purchase a better on with an IS. |

I feel there is no need for a lens skin whatever that is. A tripod mount is very useful if you are not shooting handheld all the time (in which case you should have the IS lens). |

Which filter is a MUST? Not a UV that is used to protect the lens. One more layer for light to penetrate, and the hood will do a better job of protecting. A tripod mount came with my 70-200 2.8, and really comes in handy. No Idea why you need a lens skin. |

Oooops. UV Filter. Just washed my hands and can't do a thing with them. |

UV and a polarizing filter was my choice for now. A lens skin is like a body glove the goes over some parts of the lens to prevent dings and scratches to the body of the lens. Which I don't seeing myself getting one because they are asking 69.00 or more for the better ones. |

CPL, UV filters and tripod mount. Amazon do third party ones for 10th the price of the canon own ones and do exactly the same job. |
