I finish my shift at 9:30pm
but I wanna go to a party that starts at 7:00pm and ends at 2am
so instead of calling sick I want to work a few hours then get off work at around 8pm
I'm thinking food poisoning because of sushi

Well, I don't have an party excuse for you but I will commend you on your extreme interpretation what "Forum & miscellaneous" means. This has got to be the most miscellaneous I've ever seen posted. For that, I give you two and a

Omar

Tell them that you have to go home to work on your resume.

Well you actually have got it right. This is where the off topic posts belong. Not in Buy/Sell,Nikon, Canon, Nikon or Post Processing etc.
You are ahead of the curve and are to be vindicated for following forum rules. I say good job and enjoy your time away from work.

too late now, but why didn't you just work your lunch and leave at 8.30? no lies needed so long as your boss is ok with it!

There's an app for the iphone that will ring you either at a push of a button or at a set time. Set it to phone shortly before you have to leave. All you need then is a bit of acting skill... "What? My Dog? Down a well?!?"

Bob's your uncle.

Haha thats gold. Although this wouldn't have helped the OP, theres also an app that simulates sounds on the other end of the line, ie. a car crash, fire alarm, sirens, people yelling out etc for when you need to hang up on a call early
