I've been wondering this myself. After installing v.3.7, it seemed to me that the noise was very slightly better but since no mention of improved noise was in the release notes, I figured it was just my imagination.

Could ot be that the defaults were simply reset?

It doesn't say it, but I think it works better. I have a 2 down to 1 on some of the luminance settings. The backgrounds seem smoother... I usually run 2 and 12 on the 2 sliders..

You don't have to go to Canon-Singapore, it's available right on the Canon-USA site.

I've had to uninstall it from my pc, it kept crashing incessantly whenever I used the eyedropper to select a white balance. Shame as it looked good and rendered faster

Did you put in the Canon U.S.A. one or the China one? javascript:wssPopupWindow('http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/8/0300002588/01/dpp3.7-w-en.pdf', 'dpp3.7-w-en.pdf') US version........Rich

Both I think

Started with the 3.7.1 that was put up on the web by some kind soul then migrated to the 3.7.2 one on the USA 1Ds3 site.

Utterly unusable, which is very odd as for me DPP has always been v stable

Same here, XP sp3 no issue w/ DPP 372 - NR is much better than older version

I am investigating, have un-installed the whole caboodle and am starting from my 50D disk and updating from there, with a a fresh download of 3.7.2

No problems on Vista with DPP 3.7.x (I'm not at home so I don't know if it's ".1" or ".0"). I had an odd problem getting the program installed, but that turned out to be a software issue not related to Canon or Microsoft. Basically, the 'setup.exe' file was completely invisible on my computer, even when I searched using the dos prompt.

Turns out that I had some freeware junk on my computer that I installed to facilitate moving music from my IPod to my IPhone, which I later found out that I did not need. Anyway, when I uninstalled the freeware, I was then able to install the Canon software with no problem.

I guess noise reduction will keep improving so long as you have more detail before/after.

Similar situation here. Had to start over, and did a new copy, but alas, still a problem. I'm on an oc'ed rig, so I lowered the settings a bit, and seemed to work fine, so far. By chance you overclocked?

I always set the NR to zero and it looks the same as earlier versions.

Kinda difficult to determine if DPP 3.7 has better NR than earlier versions if NR is disabled...

I just took a quick look, I like Noise Ninja better, but that was not a serious look. At some point tho will take a hard look as my sense is that NR in RAW "should" be a better place to apply it than on a tiff and certainly better than a jpeg.

Do you really think Canon would have improved noise reduction in DPP and not made sure everyone knew about it?

Well, Canon doesn't exactly shout about DPP upgrades from the rooftops. Plus it's almost a moot point as 2/3 of Canon shooters probably use Aperture, LR or ACR instead and roll their own NR with plugins.
