7Ds were in stock for a few hours at BH today..
so I ordered mine.. I'm not so excited yet.. because i've been saving up for wedding/house... but i'll be excited when I have it on my hands...

anyway,.. anyone who owns 7D, did you or did not get a back lcd cover?
I know that it does not have the extra framing on the lcd.. so i'm guessing currently available 3" protector won't fit/put on securely..

The 7D lacks the surrounding frame of the 40D/50D and has a glass cover. Although the image area is the same, it looks a lot smaller without the frame. I don't use LCD covers. Never had any scratching problems but I use a E-1 handstrap. I suppose if you wear a long neckstrap, have copper button and/or western belt buckle there might be a problem.

If you really must have a LCD condom, buy a PDA protector and trim it to fit. It did exactly that with a 5D but removed after a month as it ruined the clarity of the LCD.

I have never used any LCD condom so far and never had any problem for all the 5 bodies. YMMV

A scratch on your LCD means you can join the veterans club

Prior LCD covers were plastic (and seemed fine at least for me), I think the 7D is glass.

ever since I beat up my back lcd on 5D & big scratch on top lcd,
I wish I had some protection on.. cuz.. I can't read!!

I guess I'll do without it for 7D.. to join the veterans club..
