I'll be heading to India in a couple of months and have the backpack mentioned above. |

Depends on which airlines you are flying with and how strict are your airport regulations. Check with them for dimensions of allowed carry-on luggage. One thing that I have noticed is that carry-on compliant tag comes with conditions apply and I have a suspicion that it is meant for domestic flights not international. |

What Kartik said ; also, if you plan on getting on short haul flights using small planes, be prepared to have to check in any sizable hand lugguage, no matter what the actual rules are. |

I have flown with my Tamrac Expedition 7&8 with no problems as carry on. |

Ive flown over 15 (All international) hours in the past 10 weeks with my Mountainsmith Borealis which when packed to the gills so to speak, weighs about 15 kilos and is wayyyy too big for the official carry on bag size. I have not had a single problem, not even a query. I think its really about how you carry the bag. Hint: carry it on your back when you check in, both shoulder straps on, then they dont 'see' so much of the bag. |
