These are the four images that I'm planning on submitting to WPPI this go around. I'm always happy to get your thoughts and comments! I am continuing to submit images I believe in, even if I'm not 100% convinced that they are in the style that the WPPI judges are usually looking for.

I'd encourage you to post what you have or plan to submit!

Love 2/3/4.

Out of curiosity, as someone who recently purchased a roll of that Baryta paper - do you find that it looks a bit too much like Luster paper? That bothers me about it... =\

I like #2 the best, but I hope #4 wins since I was there for the moment

I sort of hoped you'd comment. Lets see how close you come this time. I think you were generally pretty good at gauging the WPPI judges' tastes last time if I recall.

Any particular critiques against 2 & 4 that I might be able to address? PM is fine if you prefer.

Thank you for taking the time.

Evan, 2 and 3 got a "holy s**t!" response from me. Love them, and best of luck man.

1. I have a soft spot for this mundane, basic, simple....awesome quite moment with dad and the representation of EXACTLY how a day looks, no PS.
2. I really like this picture, don't think it will rank as high as three.
3. Knowing how you will get this printed, this is the tops. This has everything going for it. I can't wait to see it in the flesh. easy 80+, I say 87 for fun.
4. the title better support the lack of sitting. I know the reason, but judges won't, and it is the little thing that can make this image SOO much better. the empty chairs add to the image, and you should say it in the title.

If #2 isn't an award winner blame it on the french judge.

Number 3 is a winner. I predict you will win on this one Evan.

Although I have a special fondness for 2, I think 3 is the strongest. The simplicity of the comp, in addition to the wonderful eye contact of the subjects, excellent expressions, and joyous body language of the little girl make for a winner in my book.

I like most like #3, with #2 in second.

Could you clone out the sockets on the walls? Also the bride is a little slouched maybe a little liquify here? I know nothing about how the judges judge and if you are allowed to alter the photo however you want, but I would imagine if the bride was standing a little more straight up (I almost said erect) it would be better to me.

Again I am not sure if you allowed to even do any of these things, or if in the judges eyes that would make a difference but to me that would help the images.

Ryan

p.s. also the little white spot on the floor on the bottom left.

you can remove them. I had the same initial reaction, but the socket on the left is perfectly placed center space with the legs of the furniture, and the one on the right is a great small detail to anchor the side. I think they stay. Its part of the image, part of the moment. Evan, as you said, the judges are not exactly going for the same thing you are. The craftsmanship of the prints and visualization you have executed should not be altered.

Great work Evan. I really love 3 but would remove that powerpoint on the wall. Opinion may be divided on that but without it there will be no negative opinion amongst the judges on that matter.

I had thought i had missed the deadline. I may send this in.

Evan .....
2, 3 and 4 really have there own personalities.
Great shots.

1 is a cool moment ... it will be interesting to see how it is judged.

Best of luck.
