So I was in Samy's today picking up my new Think Tank bag and I stopped by the rental counter to talk about some lighting gear and he asked me if I had gotten the email yet about the 1DmkIV and 1DsmkIV.

My ears perked up and I replied "Why no, no I have not!"

He proceeded to tell me that he didn't know the actual specs yet, but showed me that the cameras were in their system now.

To quote him telling another customer over the phone: "No it's not a rumor anymore, these are for real."

They were calling up their Top-Tier customers to see if they wanted to put down deposits to be first in line.

Have you guys heard any other hard evidence?

I mean yes we all know it will come out eventually. But it seems to be pointing to the fact that they may be coming sooner rather than later.

I mean the successor for the 1D Mk III is going to be introduced tuesday next week.........

That is rather sooner than later, I think....

I just ordered (from B&H) a 1dsm3 a few hours ago... I'm betting it won't drop much more in the short-term.

The 1Ds3 prices may actually fall so bad that it would be pointless selling it. It's something I always knew, knowing what a luke warm upgrade the 1Ds3 was, and I may keep it as a second to the 1Ds4.

Anyone actually seen these listed anywhere? Only evidence seems to be OP's anecdotal post & a post on DPReview - can't find any sign of them on samy's web site (yet).

Why would Canon go through all the effort to keep the new camera a secret, then give Sammy's a heads up so they can take the 20 seconds to add it to their computer well before it is announced. That makes no sense. They hear about it when everyone else hears about it, when the camera is announced. Sounds like they were messing with you.

Canon Rumours went CR3 (their most sure rating) with this yesterday. They've had a pretty good track record with their new rating system. October 20th seemed to be the riding date.

Of Note: I've heard nothing from them about the 1DsIV

I wouldn't mind having one 1D3 for sports shooting.

Great news! I've been holding off on the 7D for the 1DMIV. Can't wait for the specs.

October 20th is just a week from today.... Hmm, we will see then. If it is true, then forget the 7D

How does Canon deal with the 1D and the 1Ds? Whenever a new version comes out, do they both come out at the same time?

Going by how fast some of the big sellers have an 'official' release up on their site for pre order I would guess they might get a couple of hours notice with the official images and specs.
But I very much doubt its over a week

Well the 1D3 came out before the 1DS3

According to the Canon museum
1DS3 Marketed November 07
1D3 Marketed May 07
1D2n October 05
1DS2 November 04
1D2 April 04
1DS November 02
1D December 01

I very much doubt that any mainstream release wouldn't include video

So yes any 1D released now will have video

I foresee some threads popping up in the future: "AF of my 1D MarkIV is like crap" or "1D Mark IV major AF issues"

Be careful with the Canon museum dates.

Remember that marketed means cameras were available to sell.

My notes show the 1Ds III was announced 8/24/07 and the 1D III announced 2/26/07.
