Searched Google and here, but didn't really find anything like I was looking for (it will require more than surface blur). |

No Dick...you intrude. You have no right to post an image in another thread as you then take over the thread. |

Strange, I have never seen any artwork in this forum from the loudest of you posting in this thread. |

So much nastiness here.... I didn't know that there was a qualifier to be here. I haven't seen a test that you have to pass or a level of skill that you have to posses to post here. |

In my experience the image needs a curve that increases contrast (to move closer to a line drawing) and then a posterization that reduces the number of colors in the image. It takes some hand work to take out stray items that are not directing the viewer to your point of interest. I've never seen a single click filter that can accomplish the effect you are looking for, but several used in combination can get you close. Then its how much time are you willing to devote to finish the image. |

I can only list tools. Not really seen a single program that can automajically mimick an illustration without tweaking the result (maybe I'm too picky; lol). I do try to get the filters/programs to do so, but I always add things to my results. Anyway, for a stand-a-lone, give FotoSketcher a shot. For PS filters, I like Impressionist and Paint Engine (not PE's main site, but this site gives you better insight on how to use it and also links to cool presets). If your comfortable with bitmap to vector conversion and use, you can try Autotrace or better yet, Inkscape (has built in UI for Potrace/Autotrace for converting bitmap to vectors which can be used to create illustrative type renditions). Now all the tools I've listed are free. I'm not sure if I can link professional/commercial plugins, but I see no reason not to mention them (you can Yahoo or Google their sites (I'm a Yahoo guy). Akvis plugins (a variety of them; all good), Buzz (no longer available but check the same site that I linked for Impressionist and you might find it), Virtual Painter, and DAP (Dynamic Auto-Painter). |
