I thought the same thing when I read the article yesterday, seems a bit strange. I dismissed it when I couldn't reconcile the differences in field of view between the M9 and the D3x both with 35mm lenses. A 35mm f/1.4 would be awesome though, assuming the smaller aperture performance isn't compromised over the f/2. |

Haha, Richard, that isn't your Contax 35/1.4 by any chance? |

I spoke with the people of Zeiss at the IBC, Amsterdam last month. |

I have been wondering since they released the ZF 35/2, why not f1.4? |

The Zeiss 35/1.4 (later rubber ring HFT version) for Rollei QBM works withtout a mirror shave on my 5DII (and SLR/C) with Kindai adapter. Amazing lens. |

Did they let the cat out of the bag? I don't see the OP's quote anymore, so perhaps it's been edited and omitted. Perhaps we weren't supposed to know! |

Indeed, I read the paragraph about "a very new redesigend Zeiss Distagon 1.4/35 with Floating element" two hours ago, and now it's gone. |

Hilarious, looks like someone might have violated his NDA. I wonder who the mole is getting word back from here |

While it would be cool, it also will not autofocus, have CPU contacts for auto-aperture and will costs close to $2000. All of these make the existing 35/1.4 AIS a winner over the potential ZF for me, I know braniac isn't a fan of its wild bokeh, but for $2000-3000 you could get the 28/1.4 which blows everything else out of the water. |

I have owned 3 5D's, 2 5D2's and 3 Distagon 35 f1.4's. I've never had a mirror clearance problem with any of them. Of course I'm not saying you won't, but I suspect that reports of such are probably due to incorrect adaptors. Yes, my distagons do focus to infinity. |

I wish there was a Canon 28/1.4. I might use my SLR more then. |

I'd sell both my 35L and 24L for a 28L of equal quality. definitely would like to see a Leica 28mm Summilux and the Nikon 28/1.4 back in production... |

Yep. 28/1.4 is ideal. |

I'm thinking a 28/1.4 would be pretty unmanageable on a Leica M - a lot of viewfinder blockage. Nevermind the fact that I wouldn't be able to afford it |
