No optical differences between versions. The only difference is that the D has a slide-lock for the aperture ring, and the non-d has a push and turn button lock for the aperture ring. |

No optical difference. Just introduces the distance feature and that's about all. And the aperture lock. |

No difference. My 85/1.8 AF is zippy enough for me, and I'm sure it was the same speed for you. |
