Hi all,

This is a photo record about the Lower Ngau Tau Kok Estate, which was built in the 1960s as a resettlement estate. It is scheduled to be demolished in 2009.

I was the photographer consigned by the Hong Kong Government and these photos were taken between 08/2008 to 4/2009.

I would like to share my works at http://ntk.johnchoy.com

Please visit and comment.

Cheers,

John

Fascinating photos. They definitely tell a story and document history.
Why is it being demolished?

Why is it being demolished?

Perhaps too old will be the main answer. It maybe controversial but this is Hong Kong.

What I saw from the estate is that the living condition of the apartment was deteriorating and those residents will be relocated to a completely new and better conditioned apartment in the same district. I think it is doing good to them. However, Those private little shop ran on family basis will disappear completely............ they won't be relocated and this is the sad side of this story.

Beautiful images John, extremely well done.

Nice balance of a photojournalism and a fine art perspective. Wonderful color.

You may want to shop those images here in the US and see if you can gain some additional exposure for yourself.

Thank you for sharing!

Best,
Michael
