Yes, you did started this non-sense in this post! Don't you think dpreview might be better place for your posts?

Hate to burst the bubble mate but Canon probably makes a lot more money from these lowly compacts and printers than they do from DSLRs and lenses.

I'm not saying you can't be disappointed, heck I admit I'm disappointed too with the lack of DSLR gear announcement, but do try to understand that it's all about profit.

Hate to say it, but FM has become quite a bit like DP with all the rumor/speculation threads. Not sure why we can't just have one thread sticky at the top, that is titled "Wants, Wishlists, Speculations and Rumors". That would tie all of these multiple threads up into one tidy click.

Actually it is very close to 50% from DSLRs compared to P&S, etc. Printers are a different issue. Check it out.

Oh, I understand that it is all about profit. I don't like it, but I do understand. Ultimately, this is why Nikon's attitude often seems more appropriate for serious photographers. Much more of their profit is directly dependent on the way the world views their pro level cameras so more of their resources seem focused on them. (Please before being tempted to cast thunderbolts note that I said their attitude - not necessarily their products.)

I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED!
Where is the $4,500 Cash for Canon Clunker P&S news, eh?
I just wanted to help USA's economy, really....

I agree Henry, I actually think that Canon is to be commended for taking a very bold step in reducing the number of MP in a given line, and can only hope that it stops the madness in P&S pixel density (and perhaps in entry-level DSLRs, as well).

Agreed! It's gonna be cool seeing consumers take a step back and wonder whether MP really is the end-all-be-all measurement of how good a camera is. It's kinda similar to when people started paying so much attention to ultimate CPU speed in computers and began looking at other aspects of the computer.

It's also interesting to hear so many people whine and complain about improvements and updates. This video hits the nail on the head on that issue:

Great video Unfortunately this is too true.

It's a rumor: the head plate for 60D or 7D (I think 7D, since xxD series have a basic area on the dial)

Very interesting new placement for the on-off switch. I wonder what the M-Fn button is for.

Looks pretty genuine to me.

Pop-up flash and no back dial since the on/off switch is on the top and without the dial lock position.

Also look how narrow the body is (see how close to the back of the body the film plane mark is).

I'm thinking from a low end camera like a Rebel.

I don't think that's a rebel, the grip shape is Xd or XXd to me. The Reb's don't even have a top LCD.

And there may be a good reason why there isn't an intermediate on/off switch position, the 1D series had it's own dedicated button for the rear dial

With prices falling rapidly and a replacement model possibly around the corner, I'd think this is the worst time to buy one.

If you scale from the size of the hotshoe then the top-plate is only about 115/120mm wide where a 1 series is around 145mm - anyone have the sizes for the xxD series handy?

There is NO WAY it can be a rebel.

No scene mode => prosumer or pro camera
Top LCD => prosumer or pro camera
New M.Fn. button => customizable button
On/Off switch on top, just like xxxD/xxxxD seies => no space due to different LCD screen (larger or articulate)

I'm not sure what you mean, the 1 series has the same switch as the 5D MK II, 20D etc. i.e a 3 position switch with On, Off and dial lock.
