Same Day Edit = maily refers to video, but can also refer to stills

SDE = they shot this and compiled and edited it in the same day, often presenting it at the reception to the guest. It's INSANE and blows my mind how they can do this.

The first time I came accross that site, I did the same thing. I watched as many as I could find. So good.

Seeing as how you are among the list of people that regularly blows my mind... that is really saying something. SM is amazing. I love their stuff. I'm only so-so about their still stuff, but the videos are bananas.

Actually... how do they do it? I'm thinking they have minimally 3 people working the video end of a wedding. 1 shooting the guys getting ready, 1 shooting the girls and 1 shooting the misc. pre-event hype stuff (i.e. prep. or the food, prep of the church, etc.) During the wedding, the 3rd guys takes the footage collected by all 3 pre-wedding and begins to edit. I have no experience with the 5DmkII but I do have some video experience and I'm guessing the 5DmkII digitally time stamps all of the videos and if they are all synced then the clips will come in, in a roughly chronological order, which is how you're going to tell the story anyway. I'm sure they have a pretty good idea of the story their going tot ell before they shoot it, so I'm guessing that in the hour or so during the wedding, the 3rd guy can get it in pretty good shape and then he's just waiting for the other two to come back with the ceremony footage.

I am by no means trying to take anything away from what they do... they are obviously tremendously talented, but if they have a good idea of the story they want to tell it isn't so hard... Obviously I have completely glossed over the whole creative aspect of it.. and how they actually come up with that story.

Wow...

It would be so amazing to be a part of that team. I've got quite a ways to go before I'm able to produce video of that quality, but sweet Jesus, it gives me something to work towards eh?!

I need to start networking more with other talented photographers in town lol.

My wife and I did the same thing yesterday. Just sat down and watched for forty-five minutes. I think that my wife cried after each video. Hell, I got misty-eyed watching a few of them. Stillmotion is about as good as it gets, IMHO.

what they do, and some of the shots they get, i have video friends who say they must hall in a bunch of serious equipment, cranes for their panning shots that must start from 25 ft in the air, etc.

I know ed's worked w/ them before. I just love the angles and their creativity and freshness. absolutely inspiring to me as a wedding photographer.

This is one of my favs. the bride is actually a wedding planner now that i worked w/ recently. check out that first shot of the dress. FTW

They seem to be shooting with 5D2's lately, though they use other Canon HD cams. I remember the first time I saw them working, running around with the cameras on Steadicams. Looked a bit silly, until you see the results. I have a wedding booked next year where they'll be shooting the video, can't wait!
