First time I've ever shot a polo game, and it was women and in pouring down rain . I'm told that's not how it usually is. How did I do? Here are a few that I liked. All with Nikon D300 and 80-200 f2.8 lens.

#2 is the best of the lot (a little over sat). You picked your background well.

I would go home and come back when it's not raining. Don't forget the riders don't like slippery grass and they're too tentative for real competitive engagements

Thanks Rags. I'll have to see if I can't get the paper to cover it again.

I don't know if there are any South Americans there. But if there are, there was a big deal that rocked that community with multiple horses dying because of some purportedly sour steroids.

could be a good story angle for a repeat visit...

I didn't mean to be dismissive, but it's hard to get good images with the rain robbing sharpness and saturation and it really is a fun sport. I'm shooting a day of the US open Polo championships in 2 weeks & I'm stoked (love those horses)

Oh no I agree with you - They canceled the games about an hour in because one of the riders fell off her horse. It was pouring out. I got off about 20 photos before I said the paper didn't pay me enough as a freelancer to do that to my gear . Polos and horses are a big thing around here, so I bet I can persuade them to let me go again. Also I want to see if I can't get the paper to lend me the 400 f2.8 That field is huge.
