Also, the sharpened blade doesn't come to live

I like this image. Well-exposed, nice detail, sense of tension. I think I know what you mean by too cluttered. I dont think the current crop brings enough attention to the blade. Try cropping from the right to leave a bit of skin on the upper arm, and maybe take a bit off the bottom to rebalance the composition.
Works well as a BW/sepia as well.
