Is there any reason not to use an LCD tv as a monitor? I have had a Dell 30" W3000 (another Dell - $1700 - keeps failing - your warranty is expired - go away - POS), and I am very accustomed to that size. It has finally quit for good.

Some of the new 32" LCD tvs are beautiful, and some even have written on the box, "Can be used as a computer monitor". Any reason to pay over $1k or more for a monitor when a nice 32" hdtv is about half that cost?

TIA
Frank

I think with LCD TVs, the maximum resolution you can get is 1900x1080 whereas with monitors you can get higher. Technically you can use TVs as monitors, just make sure they're IPS or PVA for a more faithful colour reproduction.

We use 3 computer LCD monitors, one CRT and one LCD TV. All, including the LCD TV, are calibrated.
