Hi,

I'm thinking about buying this lens but before I do I want to make sure I'm buying the right one. This lens is an N model. Are there other models? If so, what are the differences between them?

A note: I'm only interested in the manual focus variations as these are the only ones with aperture rings.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

Not sure if there's other variants, i don't believe there are.

I have this lens and it's exceptional on 645. Wide open it's a touch soft, but it's very sharp by f8. Great colour rendition. I haven't yet tried it on an EOS with adapter...

Please post back your results. I've got a bunch of 645 lenses i'd like to try

Yes, there's 3 variations.

The original 35/3.5 C. This one is the poorest performer of the lot. I' avoid it unless the price is very good.

The 35/3.5 S. Updated optics in the same type of barrel as the C. Same lower-contrast coatings as the C.

The 35/3.5 N. The same optics as the S, but with the updated N coatings and the lighter N barrel with the plastic aperture ring.

As far as I'm aware, the AF version is optically identical to the N (including coatings)

Thank you. Looks like the N version is the one to get.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.
