First off ... I don't believe you need to, or should "install" ACR in the LR develop module. If you updated LR to v2.4 that is all you need to do ... the ACR plugin is for PS and should be installed there. |

The simple answer to your question is that Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw will not work correctly if there is more than one version of the plug-in installed. And apparently you compounded the problem by installing a version of ACR in Lightroom. Lightroom is a standalone program and does not need to be updated with ACR. |

Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw share the same processing engine. However the update process for each is quite different. |
