So I had this opportunity to drive 13 hours to the National Seashore on Hatteras Island for a long weekend, which was an opportunity to take a couple of snapshots as well. I got all packed up and drove and drove and drove tuesday evening til midnight and then again the next day until about 5pm. It was a balmy 94 for the next 4 days, but I digress. Friday evening standing on the beach watching storm clouds form off the horizon I decided to take a couple of shots so I pulled out the camera and was taking a few of the clouds forming and turned around because my son was pestering me only to get a much better shot of clouds out over the pamilico sound. C&C always welcome...Kevin.

Impressive clouds. The second one looks almost like smoke rising from the dunes.

Love the first one and the clouds in the second are more like smoke as someone said, but the fg is as good.

Exactly Ute when I turned around the only thing impressive about the whole thing were the clouds I said wow...and snapped the pic.

Thank you all for your comments. It was just great to be down on the outer banks for the long holiday weekend.

I'll join the chorus for the second shot here - those clouds are amazing.

Hey Kevin,

#1 is really nice. Good job on the foreground in it. And while the clouds are pretty cool in #2, that's what leaves me a bit wanting in that one, the foreground/sand isn't that interesting, and rather with all the footprints in it, for me it distracts from the cool clouds.
