I have looked all over my Canon 24-105 f/4 L IS lens and for the life of me cannot find the date code? Does anyone know exactly where this is on the 24-105 lens? The only code I can see is what I'm assuming is the serial number which is stamped on the silver camera mount on the back, but typically the date code starts with two letters and I can't find that, thank you. |

Not all lenses have date codes affixed... |

On mine it was on the lens mount but it was tough to see. |

Thank you both, I've scanned the mount numerous times but it's just not there, I'm guessing mine doesn't have one... of course, it could be because Canon had to replace my lens mount and the new one doesn't have that information... |

Just checked on mine & initally thought I didn't have one either - however - it's stamped (not printed) on the lens mount but on the inner black ring - directly opposite the electrics connection tabs. HTH. |

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that all L's have date stamps. Take a close look on the inner (black) mounting ring, right next to the glass. |

If you had it worked on then it is likely they replaced that inner black ring that had the date code on it. It's just part of the maintenance they do. |
