Does anyone know what the deal is with this lens? KEH is asking about 500 bucks more than you'd get for a good copy of a EF mount mark I. Adorama has one going for about a grand. Is the lens just so very rare it can demand these prices, or is there some sort of magic in the glass? |

I had the FD 24/1.4 SSC Aspherical quite a while ago, back in the film days, and it is nothing special optically but it was certainly a special lens for it's time. I always found it a bit too soft wide open which to my way of thinking is the whole point of this kind of lens anyway. I don't know what changes there were between the FD(n) 24 L and the SSC Aspherical, maybe it's the same lens just with Canons new fangled 'L' marketing. |

Some people collect lenses. That alone can drive up prices. Where you thinking of trying to convert the FD to EF mount? |

Dmitry has done one of those converts. His images with it look great. Canīt remember if it requires a shave on 5D or not, probably it does. |
