Got my new 50D yesterday and along with a rented 400 F5.6L (try before you buy ) took it out for a sping this afternoon .

Thought i would post a couplde of captures, which include my first BIF that is actually worth keeping . (amazed how much better the 50D AI Servo is over the 400D)

C&C welcome

Thanks in Advance
Rob

Congrats! I just picked up a 50D myself (sold the 40D a few months back) Although I haven't had time to try out my camera, I got to shoot with a 50D + 500L + 1.4x about a month ago and man, is that autofocus goood.

Looks like your focal point on the last two is off a bit....

Very nice captures, congrats on your new equipment. Takes awhile to get used to longer lenses, watch your shutter speeds and/or practice good techniques.

are these large crops ?
the image detail is just not there

i would bump the iso in order to stop the lens down and also verify your focus pt

Peyton, yeah loving the camera - just need to practice lots now

I checked the focus points on the two Kingfisers, one is off but the other is right on ! Might give the focus a check on the lens tomorrow.

They are only cropped 50% not sure if that counts as alot ?

I will try some shots tomorrow with the Lens stopped down and see what i get - cheers for the advice.
