Having had hardly any hoverflies in the garden so far this year, they finally put in an appearance on some ornamental poppies. All on EOS 40D with MPE-65 between 1 and 2x magnification. Tried using the larger 580EX flash with a smaller Stoffen diffuser on it, the home made "coke can" diffuser I have on the 430 flash seemed to disturb them too much. Comments welcome as always. very nice, like #1 & 2 best, #1 looks a little dark on head but good light and detail. |

Some great details in these, love the second shot. Sounds like it is here, very few hovers until the last few days. |
