We visited Fire Island this past Tuesday on our way home from Long Island. Here are a few of the birds we saw at the eastern tip of the Otis Pike Wilderness Area accessed from the eastern entrance to Fire Island National Seashore. ![]() 2. Eastern Towhee, Adult Male, Red-eyed (although you can't tell from this photo) ![]() 3. Brown Thrasher, Adult Eastern ![]() 4. Killdeer, Adult performing the broken-wing act ![]() I apologize for the rather poor quality of these photos. I had difficult bright mid-day sun and I'm still learning how to properly expose my photos, especially those against the bright blue sky. Some of these are heavily post-processed in an attempt to save the image. The Thrasher was my nemesis bird that day. He never would give me a good shot no matter how long I tried to wait him out. This shot was actually taken as I was leaving the area at the last section of brush. Thanks for looking. Please offer C&C. ~ John |
