#1 is my favorite by far - a really excellent shot.

The thing I find most interesting... I shoot sports and usually the rule is to leave more space in the direction of travel so the subject is off center and traveling into the frame. I sometimes break this rule when I have a football quarterback running one way and looking the other.

In your case you left more room behind the boat so that it is traveling out of the frame - but it works because of the direction the rower is facing. I think it is cool how that works visually.
