I was walking around Waltham, MA yesterday with my friend taking some shots and we came across this cool little waterfall. for post, the first is a blend of 3 exposures, and the second is an HDR of 2. it turned out a little soft- before i hit the "process" button in photomatix, it looked sharper. any idea why?

either way, here they are and C&C are welcome!

Don't know what to say exactly. When the title said "Waterfall", naturally I was thinking "In The Woods". Then these pop up. Hummm... Well, the two rocks (I hope they are rocks) on the wall left side in #1 are the attention getters. Eye is drawn right to that. So I guess the composition is wrong. Where am I supposed to be looking primarily?

On the second, the color of the water looks yellow. First thing that comes to mind is sewage plant. And since there is a big industrial brick building on the right, it looks like it could be a sewage plant. The treatment of HDR is good... good sharpness and color in the building and fence. Not over done. I like that. But could you fix the water? The color really bothers me.

I think these would look great in B&W.

Thanks to you both!

Larry- no sewage plant here, just the charles river (if your not from MA, it is a really really really dirty river). First shot i agree the composition is wrong. focus was supposed to be on the rocks, i guess i missed that one.

ill mess around with the second one in photoshop a little bit. i am having trouble getting the water on the upper left to be the right color, but ill keep at it. i will try them in b&w too

Thanks again

I was hoping for a waterfall instead of a fish ladder

The 1st doesn't do much for me, but I rather enjoy the processing in #2.
