I need some help here. I am heading to France on July 16th, and my 30D just started giving me problems. The shutter release button is hanging up, and not releasing most of the time. When it does, it is with a delay. Is there someplace in the NYC area (trustworthy) where I could drop it this week and get it back by next Tuesday/Wednesday?

Thanks,
Charlie

chas: You could try calling B&H Photo there in NYC for guidance.

In addition, let me note that Canon has recently turned around service on an L-class lens and a point-and-shoot camera in under one week.

You could also rent a camera in a pinch.

Canon has a service center in Jersey. I'd head there.

Call Canon service direct, they should be able to put a rush on it under the circumstances (& advise you where best to send it). I also had a "regular" repair turned around in under a week ...

I'm in the southern US and my 5D2 was mailed (overnite) on Monday at noon and I had it back in my hands on Friday. I sent it to the NJ repair center.

Just tell them to expedite it and if your problem isnt anything major, the turnaround should be quick. My 1D3 was turned-around at about 24 hours.

Thanks all for your advice. I am within driving distance of the NJ site, so I will call as soon as I get back to the NY area on Tuesday.
