It's July and one that means in these parts is the Greenies should be back in the area that I normally kayak in. I have been looking for them since mid June because we have had warmer than normal temps. I thought that would bring them out but it hasn't. I headed out early this morning in search of them. On my way over to Greenietown I saw one fly over head, that was a good sign. I was lucky enough to spend a couple of hours with 2 of them although I did see 5 total. I also found some other photo worthy subjects. Here are the first rushes from today. Most are full frame.

C&C as always

Tim

1 Tree swallow
2 Barn swallow fledgling
3 Pied-billed grebe older chick

The yak, an 'L' lens best friend A tough angle on the TS's and the light was a little harsh but you got them buddy! I think you are the Grebe master, you always get some great images and close to these guys and these are great Tim!

Great location for the Greenies and you found a couple of juvis, nice shots and nice light on them These look great my friend, sharp and super colors! Oh my, not TC either, you got close Tubes next time

Great set Tim & I admit - - I can not spot the Greenie in the environmental shot - -

but then - - all colors are off in FF since I installed 3.5 I can't judge a thing & trust it in here. I'm not happy....

# 3, 4, 6, 7, & 8 are my favorites.

Hey Tim,

Nice angles from your Yak.

I just got my new Yak and have been out in it a couple of times, and one of those times, I took a swim. I will be putting taining wheels on it. Wildlife seem to be less spooky when approached slowly via a Yak, yet the Cormies are tough to approach.

Keep your photos coming, they are always a pleasure to view.

Thanks Rob!! I posted the environment shot for a couple of reasons. The lake that I kayak in regularly has such varied habitat that I decided I would post pictures of the different habitat every now and again. Glad you enjoyed it.

Hey Karl!

I gotta get a grebe, love those guys. They are here year round, you get to know them

Yeah, all the greenies I have seen up close were juvies Don't remember that from last year. These two were shot far apart and had very different behaviors, would have to be 2 different birds. Oh I have some tc shots, portraits I learned some new tricks for getting close to them, it takes time but man is it worth it.

Thanks buddy!!

#3, #4, #6 and #7 are my picks here. The color and detail are amazing in the two Grebe images. I especially love the water color in #3. The juvi Greenies are cool with the hair-do.

Hey Lil!! The greenie is dead center, you can barely see him. I wanted to illustrate how hard they can be too find sometimes. Sorry to hear about your FF woes

Glad you found some favorites
