Wicked looking bears, but the light in #4 really makes it special.

Folks, I'm pretty sure that's a Long-billed Curlew in #4 and not a Whimbrel. The bill length and the pink underside of the bill near the head is one indicator. Also the feather pattern on the wings and back plus the buffy flanks and lack of dark crown stripes indicate a LBC.

Very nice Ant. I do think #4 is the gem of the series. Thanks.

~ John

It is a Curlew

These are a delight Ant. It's hard to believe you need calibration with photos like this.

Morris

Well I just sent the stuff in for calibration because I was in L.A. and I've
been dying to see what difference it may or might make.

Maybe nothing gained but a lighter wallet

Thanks Morris

Hey Antman, you should have kept the glass and the bodies, nobody is more picky than you on calibration and these images prove it.

I like #1 a whole bunch buddy, I like the decision you made on the reflection #4 is stunning, great perspecitve, light and color and your PP ain't to bad either #5 is really different but it works, the light makes the shot, the BG is carrying a bit of noise and perhaps the darker feathers too, hey I gotta 'nit' cause I love ya buddy!

Karl
Happy 4th and do take care

Happy 4th Mr W and thanks for the comment

We'll see how the calibration turns out. Probably no different, but I've always wondered.
Guess I'll have the answer soon

Ant -
I found shot #1 and the Merganser shot to be the most stunning of the bunch. I don't know how you can be without your camera or glass. Nice shooting with you when you were down here.

for taking Ant on the BC, SJWS Tour. Photos to come soon. I"m in the middle of a long work stretch and short on time right now.

Dropped off every Long piece of Canon Glass I own at Canon Irvine for a full calibration.
Dropped off 5 Lenses and 2 Bodies. So I'm without a camera and most of my glass.
I feel naked

These are just leftovers that didn't make it into other posts

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY !!!

While I"m hard at work saving lives this holiday weekend you should all be thinking of me

Be careful out there .......... It's a zoo

OK Off to work I go!!!!!!

Peace OUUUUT

Hope you got through the weekend all right Ant.
Super shots you have here even if they are leftovers.
Wish we had a Canon Irvine here. Will relate my Canon Switzerland tale later when I eventually get my 1 Ds Mk2 back
