At our favourite beaver pond a few days ago we watched this spotted sandpiper.

It was apparent that she had young hidden in the grasses but was reluctant to let them come out probably because of this guy watching the pond.

We went back the next evening to check again and there she was.

The landlord came by to check us out.

Then the real star showed up.

He checked his reflection.

Then all were tucked in for the night.

Rob,

how adorable - first time I've ever seen a Spotted Sandpiper chick.

My top pick has to be # 6 - & I think he's checking you out.

Love the story.

Delightful series Rob! The presentation and story work so well together, and you rightfully pointed out the stars of the set. I'm with Lil on a favorite. #6 is superb, as the reflection works so well, even though the back lighting is a bit harsh, you handled the exposure perfectly. Well done!

How come chicks always steal the show Rob #6 is a glamour shot my friend, the sharp eye and the wonderful muted reflection look splendid here buddy, love the shot! Looks like the landlord is up to his neck in trying to collect on the rent

Happy 4th my friend!

a winning set Rob, with #6 as the pick of course.
I see plenty of SS, but never any chicks......wonder now soon the
little ones learn to "bob the booty"

something strange happened with excess sharpening on the last one....IMHO!

Thanks all.
Dave - the little guys are all ready bobbing along, they must come out of the egg that way. The last shot is a fierce crop taken at ISO 3200 and no doubt over sharpened, included because it was so danm cute to watch her pull them in.
