I am leaving for Italy in a few days and just remembered about the wattage difference in electricity here and abroad. Any know if the Canon battery charger CG 580 (standard charger) needs a wattage converter? Or just the different prongs? Many thanks!

Look at the specs on the charger. If it says 110-220v you will be OK. You may need a plug adapter since the pins may be different.

Most recent powe supplies and adapters are universal.

You just need an adapter for European sockets available at the airport or from somewhere like Radio Shack, the charger will take both voltages, I have both types of battery charger UK & US and have no issues
