These are form my visit to Orange County week before last and my first experience with capturing the Common Tern. Photographing these birds is quite the thrill. The action is hot & heavy with many of these birds feeding constantly it often hard to stay focused on individuals. I had so much fun I went back again for the day last weekend to shoot the Skimmers. (I'll post some of those next time). These are taken with the 1D MkII & 500/4 IS, handheld, & combination of manual and aperture priority exposure.

C & C welcome as always.
Thanks for looking/commenting,

JayT

Hey J... new avatar I see

I like 4, 6 and 1. 4 because of the blue to white gradation you captured in the bkg.

My only nitt would be to have a catch light in the eyes.

Nice work J.

I guress it was your 'tern' JayT A nice open feeling in these images, love the sky and the seamless BG's. Something about #2 that really works well for me, the BG color pallette and the form of the tern. #6 is pretty sweet to, can't beat those colors buddy!

It looks like the tern is missing a toenail in the last photo!
