Anyone tried to use Nikon's SB-900 flash set to master with Sigma EF 530 DG Super set to slave? |

Nope. Why do you think Sigma is cheaper? You get the features and technology you pay for. I don't think any flash company would make a product that would work with a competitor's. If you don't need a flash on camera you can use the SU-800 to control an off-camera SB-900 or you can find a used SB-800. |

The Sigma can act as a master or slave in combination with the SB-900. I have not used that combination in some months and as I remember I thought you had to first mount the Sigma in the hot shoe to configure it but I could be wrong. Definitely works and if you are using a D700/D300 the Sigma with act as a slave to the built-in camera flash. |

Although the Sigma user manual is convoluted at best, you can set the Sigma in slave mode, and then it will trigger from the flash from any other flash unit, including the SB-900. |
