I am looking to try out Canon 85mm f1.2 ver 1 and I was wondering if someone could guide me about the going rate for these lenses.

Around $1250, give or take $100 or so.

I got one about a year and half or 2 years ago for $975. Off ebay, local seller, near-mint condition with hood and caps, but no box.

Ed got a great deal. I got mine for $1160. I sold it 9 months later for...$1180 I think. Either way, it was essentially a free 9 month rental. Great lens. I just prefer 100mm on full frame, so when I got the 1Ds II, I sold the 85L (partially to help pay for the upgrade on the body...which I was fine with since the 100mm focal length appeals to me more anyway).

I got one for around the same price and around the same time. Mine had an older date code but it still worked flawlessly.

Just picked one up last week on craigslist locally for $850.00 it was a little dirty but cleaned up well, glass was perfect, but no box or front cap.

wow - it's a steal i got almost a brand new one $1250 two years ago.

Wow you guys got really good deals! It seems the going rate is approx. $1200. I know that it focus slowly but can anyone comment on the focusing accuracy with a 5d 1 using peripheral focus points?

Got mine for $1100 with everything except box but plus filter Though...I do like it, I might sell/trade it for a 24LII or 35L.
