I'm going into the gardens today with my D300, 105mm VR and R1C1...

Can anyone provide me with any tips you may have learned while using this flash system? I haven't taken it into the field yet.

Diffuse the light, Josh. I have a small piece of 1/2 white diffusion from the Bogen Manfrotto diffusion pack taped directly to the flash head and then a pair of Stofens. Works pretty well, but I'm experimenting with a pair of Gary Fong Puffers. Dalantech uses the Canon equivalent of the R1C1 system and gets astounding results. Check out some of his latest posts of honeybees. Amazing. It's a good system, you just need to tame the light.
