Yes NX2 works. I'm on Windows 7 64bit but it's basically the same as Vista.

Win Vista 64 has a emulation mode called WOW (windows on windows). for the most part 95% of win32 programing will work on win64. certain drivers though do require them being written for a 64bit OS. the Codecs for seeing RAW images natively (that is through the OS not an individual dedicated program like NX2) do not currently work on win64 they only work for win32

To be clear -- it works without using WOW on both Vista 64 and Win 7 64.

no it uses WOW in vista 64 as it is a 32bit program. all 32bit programs do the emulation thing on 64bit windows.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WOW64

currently nikon has no native 64bit programs

From Microsoft ....
All applications built with the 1.0 and 1.1 releases of the .NET Framework are treated as 32-bit applications and are always executed under WOW64 on the 32-bit common language runtime (CLR) on a 64-bit operating system. In addition, 32-bit specific applications built with version 2.0 of the .NET Framework would run under WOW64 on 64-bit platforms. JSYK

Sorry, I know is old news but I have been looking for informations for windows 7 64bit compatibility and I found this!

here is a copy of email what I got from "Nikon Inc. Technical Support"

Thanks for the question. Generally we make compatibility announcements with new OS's about 60 days after a full, shipping version is released. At this time we cannot comment on future support until full versions are available. Thanks

So we are stock!

Nikon Raw (NEF) Codecs for Vista and Windows 7 if you need one.

NX2 and ViewNX work just fine on Vista64 and Windows764

load those and be done with it.

I've been running it on both Vista 64 and Win 7 64 for a long time. Recently I found a situation where all of the NEF files in a given folder refuse to open under either ViewNX or Capture NX2 on Win 7 (I get the message 'unsupported format') though I confirmed last night that they opened fine under Vista 64 bit. Need to poke around a bit to figure out what's *really* going on.

Well, you'll have to tell my computer it doesn't know what it's doing. I use NX2 2.1.1 currently on a new Vista 64bit Intel I7 Dell and it works gloriously well indeed. No issues with NEF or otherwise. I loaded the Nikon Codec's and it is updated and up to date with all drivers and software. Nothing special as far as I can tell.
