While we don't have any beaches, the city did ship in some sand and created a beach volleyball park.

We have an event every June called the State Games of Mississippi, where hundreds of amateur athletes come here to compete in different events (Olympic type competition )

I decided it would be fun to go out in the 100 degree weather and try and capture the volleyball action. Here are a few of my favorites.

Look close at the 3rd how much the ball compressed when he hit it!

One more. Comments on better angles and such would be appreciated.

Backgrounds were horrible as the courts had pop-up tents all around.

Nice shots, would have been nice to see a few from the front instead of the side

some nice photos,, I shoot all the grandkids games and rather than shooting from the end of the court I find mid way on the side offers some good face and body shots,, the net really does not detract and can add,, also can show a lot of action when both sides are up in the air for the slam and block,,

It looks like you're standing up for the shots. I think if you sit down you can get some shots without the distracting background.

ericgu - I did shoot some from a kneeling position, but you are right these were from a standing or squating position. I was so close to the net that I was not sure I could get out of the way fast enough if I was sitting. Thanks for the comment!
