as long as you can prove the age of the lenses and have proof of the repair I see no problem either. |

Thanks EBH and pipspeak. Yes, the S/N is still present. Generally, buyers prefer newer lens such as UV, UW or UX code. Older lense like US, UT code, etc. does not attract buyers as much and can't command the same value as newer ones. In this case, one of the lenses I bought from FM forum has no receipt. The service report from Canon only listed the serial number. They said the date code does not mean anything to them and that's why they don't bother to document it. |

Just as an FYI, they didn't "erase" the date codes, they gave you a brand new rear mount plate. |

Can Canon do a lookup of the manufacture date from the SN? |

I'm sure they have that info internally, but I couldn't begin to guess if it's something they'll readily give out. Doesn't hurt to make a phone call though. |
