Does anyone make Contax to Sony adapters? I would love to be able to try some Zeiss optics and can't currently afford the Sony/Zeiss lenses.

I'm moving over from Leica R and will use Leitax adapters for my 15/3.5, 50/2, 90/2 and 180/2.8. However, my 35-70/4, which was my main lens, is not adaptable. I will probably add either a 28 or 35 to fill the hole. I would love to try the 28-70/3.5 Zeiss.

Leitax is likely to introduce Contax mount conversions for Alpha. That will be the best option. There currently is no infinity-capable adapter which doesn't include optics. I've looked at the issue briefly and it doesn't look too difficult to convert a Contax lens which has the bolt-on bayonet lugs to Alpha mount using a modified M42 adapter. Most of the Zeiss lenses have the removable bayonet lugs.

Note there is no 28-70 f3.5 Zeiss. There is a 35-70 f3.4 and a 28-70 f3.5-4.5 however. I recommend the 35-70 as the 28-70 is merely average in comparison.

Also note the ZS 35mm f2 is easily adapted as it is a M42 lens. Not cheap however.

Leitax has a first batch in manufacture as we speak, so it should be out quite soon. The list of lenses will be the same they convert to Pentax to start with: only MM and narrow mount; the 21mm Distagon is on the Pentax list, do it should be convertible to Sony. Don't shoot the messenger if it comes out slightly differently!
