Add in that they can't / won't take a picture with the lens... how is it possible that you can't take a picture if you work in a camera store?

Can't wait to see how much that goes for!

price > $1,500 = no bargain.

That's right up there with 1D series being offered with "no idea how many actuations" or "no way to determine actuations"

Definite no-go.

I am with Peter... There is no need to push the price up any higher...

There's no problem with buying an iffy supertele from an eBay store that offloads lenses that even Adorama doesn't want to touch. Worst-case scenario, you could always send it to Canon for repairs ... Oh--right.

I asked. AF is fine.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

I thought about it. I am not looking to make a profit. I just wanted to shoot with it. Thus, the fact that I can't receive a picture taken with this lens alongside the fact that I won't be able to return it if I am not happy with its image quality lead me to give it up.

Good luck to all bidders.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

We don't check for the number of actuations as a matter of course - with over 20,000 used items in our warehouse, it wouldn't make economic sense for us to do this, when only a small fraction of potential buyers request it.

However, if you require this information in relation to a specific item, in MOST cases, we are able to supply it.

Despite Helen's assurances, I think it is VERY important that we don't ramp the bids up...

If you were concerned to keep bidding down, posting a thread about it here probably wasn't the smartest move.

Yeah, it's gone over $1,800 now. I reckon in a couple of $100 bills, the speculators and the spare parts buyers will be starting to give up. Who will be left ? I guess the enthusiasts. They will probably push the price to $2,500-$2,700 sold.

1974$, 6:52 hours left. It is now 22:15 in Israel. Question is, should I go to sleep?

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

I expect, the "as is" must relate to the fact that Canon will not service the lens (little or no parts available). So Adorama can't be expected to repair it-hence "as is."
